Combing fashion and film is one of the things India is famous for, and it’s a great combination. Whether it’s a fashion show, a magazine photo shoot, or fashion brand ambassadors, we love our film starts to be in them, thus giving a new dimension to fashion in our country. Bollywood’s top actress, is definitely at the top of this dimension. Another thing that we Indians love are the big fat Indian weddings, we love the naach gaana, heavy attire and jewellery, and just everything about a wedding. So let’s see how Deepika donned 10 bridal looks with élan and managed to look more bewitching than ever.
10. Deepika Padukone in Maroon Bridal Look
Deepika wore this beautiful maroon lehenga choli back in 2007 during the promotion of her first film Om Shanti Om. Even though she was just starting out, she went bang on right with this one. This beautiful outfit is made from velvet and georgette. The detail and finishing of the outfit is just brilliant with use of beads, cutdana, diamonds, sequins, stone, zardosi and zari. She looks very radiant and fresh with the right amount of make up and the correct bindi. Her hair, left open but still right in place looks good too. The jewellery is kept minimum due to the outfit being heavy already and that only does good for the look. Though, considering that this was for the UK premiere of the film, a gown would have suited her better.
This combination of classic design with classic beauty was a success. In 2011, designer Puja Nayyar unveiled her new bridal collection on Deepika. This is an outfit that was worked on for four months by as many as 20 artists. The outfit is bathed in pearls and swarovskis and outfit has been put together using zardozi techniques. The golden pumps worn here are rightly suited for the attire. Once again, use of jewellery is restricted to maang tikka and diamond jhumkas. The hair is tied in a classic bun and make up was in tone with the outfit colours. Deepika looked absolutely regal in this look. The drama of this look is unmistakable.
8.South Indian Bridal Kajeevarm Saree
This look was for playing the south Indian bride in Chennai express, and no-one could have done it better than Ms. Deepika Padukone. For this look she wore a traditional golden red Kanjeevaram silk saree. It was worn with a cummerbund, coin necklaces maang tikka and bangles. Deepika was a ravishing bride in this one. She looked every bit her part. The gajra around her bun as well as the make up and bindi only added more beauty to the look.
7. Black and Maroon Bridal Ghagra Choli
In this one, she wears a raw silk black and maroon lehenga. The outfit is simple but looks gorgeous on her. The marginal make up and jewellery increase focus on the lehenga and her brilliant hairstyle. The messy bouffant with the perfect amount of curls looks splendid with the look. She is practically glowing in this one and looks more radiant than ever.
6.Deepika In Red Bridal Lehanga
Deepika looks absolutely resplendent in this Gaurav Gupta couture bridal lehenga. It seems that the color red suits her like nothing else. The high collar top and detailed lehenga outfit is complimented with a maroon bag which is an interesting addition. The heels are metallic silver and red and go well with the outfit. Jewellery is once again minimal with diamond bracelets. The dupatta is kept simple with a plain border but the immense detail of the outfit fills up for it.
5.White Bridal Saree
This outfit was worn for Farah Ali Khan’s jewellery show at IIJW in 2010. Though the show focused the bridal make up and jewellery, the saree too was bang on in sync with it. The eye make is simple but dramatic. Winged liner and black kajal make that happen perfectly and are complimented with brown eye shadow and light champagne eye shadow on lids. With golden highlighted cheeks and peach brown blush, the jewellery looks absolutely stunning on her. The overall look was absolutely stunning and royal.
4.Golden Bridal Gown
She tried something different with this one. A Sabyasachi lehenga that also gives the feel of a gown, wow. With that level of detail with heavy jewellery (those jhumkas are absolutely stunning), she carries it off with utmost poise. The dark red lip colour adds more play to the look. There is nothing in the look that needs any modification. Its just perfect.
3.Deepika in Vintage Look Bridal Wear
This look is straight out of the 1930’s, something totally different but subtle and just plain attractive. A paneled rich velvet blue and silver lehenga designed by Manish Malhotra looked stunning on this queen at the Delhi Couture Week. The look has a vintage and majestic look to it with those bell sleeves and zari zardozi embroidery. Much different from all her previous looks, she still pulled it off to perfection.
2.Pink and Gold Bridal
Deepika wears a golden pink Arpita Mehta Lehenga in this one. The “gajra” looks great and adds a different appeal to the look. The minimum mirror and lace work on the skirt helps to balance the heavy top. Make up is peachy and goes well with the outfit colours. The traditional bun looks great but a better hairstyle was possible. The thick lace on the skirt gives it a more importance at the bottom.
1.Golden Lehanga Choli
‘Saving the best for the last, Deepika was the perfect, mesmerizing and beautiful bride for Vogue’s June 2014 bridal shoot. Wearing a hand embroidered Sabyasachi blouse with a matching lehenga and gota patti dupatta, with talaf work jewellery, she never looked better. The scarlet lipstick looked just perfect with those sultry hair waves. This is seduction at its best.
So these were the 10 times Deepika rocked the bridal look.
